Most Negotiated Amenities:
Room Discounts and Wi-Fi

A research study of almost 800 meeting planners in corporations and associations by Cvent identified the amenities they most want when they’re negotiating meeting bookings. When asked to rank the top three, 60 percent of the planners included discounted sleeping rooms, and more than half of them cited discounted meeting rooms and Wi-Fi. Here are their top 10 amenities to negotiate:

1. Discounted sleeping rooms

2. Discounted meeting space

3. Meeting room Wi-Fi

4. Discounted menu prices

5. In-room Wi-Fi

6. Allowable attrition

7. Sleeping room upgrades

8. Discounted audiovisual

9. Discounted parking

10. Late check-out times

On the attendee side, meeting planners ranked the amenities that are most important to their audience:

1. Free Wi-Fi/Internet access

2. Round-trip airport transportation

3. Free parking

4. Late checkout

5. Meal service

6. Early check-in

7. Fitness center access

8. Business center access

9. Welcome reception

10. Beverage service
